Our World in Lockdown
c. 2020‘Our World in Lockdown’ was a collaborative project with YiWen Liu (@yiwen.yvn). This was during the most unsettling times of the global COVID-19 pandemic. As we were set into national lockdown for several months, we decided to initiate our own self-directed project by producing illustrations about our combined thoughts, hopes and feelings during this time.
My part was solely the black outlines and the foundation of the outcomes, whereas YiWen provided the colours and textures at the latter stage. Each piece may seem very abstract and visually quite obscure at first sight, but they all contain an underlying story or theme that can be reinterpreted differently to any viewer. We felt each illustration could further work well as both small or large prints in the future, as tangible representations.
